For a real outdoors enthusiast, there’s no season when you don’t need a good pair of sunglasses. While most people can just head to any high street store to pick up shades suitable for the beer garden when the summer rolls around, those who spend their every season snowboarding, on bike tours, surfing and climbing mountains need glasses that perform well under harsh conditions and can be worn 365 days a year.

These sunglasses from Smith are the perfect mix of good looks and technology made for any kind of adventure. Their designers and engineers have perfected the balance between casual lifestyle shades and in-depth professional levels of performance for sport.

We took the Smith Questa glasses on our adventures, to see if they could stand up to the pressures of the wild…

This year, the biggest trend of the action sports industry is to go retro. Everyone from surf brands to snow labels, to sunglasses are finding inspiration in heritage lines and the designs of the 80’s and 90’s to create new looks.

The Questa sunglasses are directly taken from their  1990’s Moto series. An intricate retro-pattern is etched into the metal of the nose, with a wire-core temple and round eye wire that all speaks to Smith’s old design collections, back when their glasses were designed a block off Main Street in Idaho, and ski lifts were seconds away.

“People who spend their year snowboarding, on bike tours, surfing and climbing mountains need glasses that perform well and can be worn 365 days a year”

We got the glasses with poppy pink lenses and clear frames, however you can mix and match the style from a selection of different choices. Pick one of their tortoise frames to make the glasses look more classic, or choose the brighter colours to your retro vibes to the maximum.

These glasses have an close fit which is perfect for smaller heads. The Cellulose propionate frame material is wearable against all climates and holds up the against slams and falls  we’re all bound to have every so often.

The polarized gray/ green lense option uses Smith’s ChromaPop technology. This is used across their goggles and sunglasses range to provide definition, more natural color, and unmatched clarity to allow you to see more detail, while making the sunglasses  10 per cent lighter for comfort.

Techlite glass and Carbonic lens constructions are optimized to provide a variety of optical and impact-resistant benefits. Smith’s designers precisely align the finest polarized filters and finish their lenses with multi-layer mirror, anti-reflective, anti-scratch, and hydroleophobic lens coatings. All ChomaPop lenses are also anti-reflective, water and oil resistant coatings, and 100% UV protection.
