One of the lesser known brands on the UK street, Monki is a secret little gem for those of us who like off beat style, that’s well designed and still within a price range that we can afford.

Founded in 2006, the Scandinavian label has made its name in creating a look that both draws from its Norse roots, while being inspired by contemporary Asian street style trends. The two influences together create a look thats clean cut, while always off-centre and fun.

We’ve been big followers of Monki for the last few years, loving their yoga inspired tees and their huge line of organic denim jeans, created as part of their sustainability promise to be committed to constantly be using better materials. On top of this promise, all of Monki’s stores offer garment and textile recycling, are powered by renewable energy and all promise to become entirely climate positive throughout their entire value chain by 2040.

When looking through Monki’s new range for this year, these trousers caught our eye. Sporty, light for activity, but also bright and amazingly fun, they’re basically the perfect athleisure trouser.

We love these Rainbow Trousers, they’re a little bit sporty, a little bit chic and a little bit crazy. They make us think of the nineties, the Spice Girls Movie and the year we spent all summer outside riding around in the sunshine on our longboard, eating Calypsos and Oreos and listening to Destiny’s Child and Blink 182 on repeat.

These trousers will look equally as good paired with a baggy t-shirt and pair of Vans as they will dressed up with a crop and denim jacket for a summer evening. The light and breezy black material fits with the kind of relaxed style that somehow allows you to look like you’re dressed smartly, while you feel like you could be wearing your favourite pyjamas.

We wore these trousers out the other night and discovered (most importantly) that they’re more than up to the job of a few hours on a skateboard and on the tarmac. Whether you need the movement for your impressive switch backs, or the durability for when your constant wipeouts, theres guys have got your back.
