Street Art Update: Alexis Díaz

Words by Mia Kingsley

Puerto Rican artist Alexis Díaz is creating some pretty amazing street art that leaves us at Cooler wanting more. Mixing animal parts and adding human hands, he is making some extremely cool ‘what ifs’ of the animal kingdom. The piece that first caught my eye was this incredible elephant- octopus hybrid just by Brick Lane. A question has popped up in my head, mutants or beauty? Personally I think they are beautiful, but what do you make of his other inventions?

A Humming bird, with a fish’s tail and human hands for wings…

It’s not only his imagination that is great but also the detail of his artwork, like Phlegm’s (a previous Street Artist favourite of ours) the intricacy is really impressive…

I can count 6 species in this one, how about you?

The location for this piece is really cool, I think it would have looked great if he had painted the background a sky blue to make it look as if the bird with wings for hands was actually flying!

I really love this one in particular because of the horizon detail added to the back of the bear/ bull. I think this one is my favourite 🙂 and we have a soft spot for bears at Cooler

More hands as wings… Díaz’s work is extremely cool and definitely on the quirky side, if you want to see more then check out this Facebook page
