Fed Up Of Sitting Down All Day? How About A Surf Desk For The Office….

Brilliant or bizarre? We'll leave it up to you

Thought standing desks were nuts? Check out the new office necessity: the surfing desk.

We joke – but as members of the ‘active person stuck at a desk’ club, we get it. Being sat down for any long period of time can’t be good for your health.

As members of the ‘active person stuck at a desk’ club, we get it…

Company founder Joel Heath decided that after changing to a standing desk, he still felt he was experiencing pain after long work days. So he came up with the idea for The Level.

The 26.5 x 12.2 inch uneven board is made out of military-grade aluminium and wood. It’s designed for you to stand on while you work, but never slump.

Because of the board’s convex shape, your body is always in three-dimensional motion.

You experience a 15 per cent increase in your heartbeat as you balance on The Level

Apparently you also experience a 15 per cent increase in your heartbeat as you balance on The Level, meaning you burn more energy than if you were simply stood or sat working all day.

We don’t know how long we’d last if we were balancing and working everyday, but we definitely want to give it a go.

It seems we’re not alone either. The company’s Indiegogo campaign to launch the board raised $126,255 in one month. That’s four times their set goal!

So, until we can actually go surfing everyday and call it work, we’re happy to settle for this next best option.
