Carissa Moore talks more on sex and surfing: “Alana is a totally beautiful human being but I want people to respect the fact she’s an athlete”

Just watched a cool little Carissa Moore interview on Network A, where she chats about what she hopes to achieve in competitive surfing long term plus she gets the now fairly common but still interesting question on how she feels about Alana Blanchard and the sexing up of surfing? The interviewer is Tim Brodhagen and here’s what the two times and reigning ASP Women’s World Tour Champ Carissa Moore had to say. First about contest surfing:

I feel there’s so much more that I can do and learn and I’m so excited about 2014 as we have some exciting new venues being added to the tour. I haven’t reached my full potential in competitive surfing yet so I’m really excited to push my limits and I want to keep competing for the next 5-10 years as long as I can ride this wave so they say.

Next about inspiring other girls:

That’s my dream, to use my platform in surfing to inspire girls all over the world to just chase their dream.

And then the Alana Blanchard question:

There’s a lot of different ways to look at our sport, for me I’m always going to take the athletic approach. I love surfing and I want to inspire people to go surfing and I want to keep as much [sic] clothes on as I possibly can.

And you know what Alana is a totally beautiful human being. She’s absolutely gorgeous and it’s great that she brings so many eyes to our sport…more of them are male but I want them to respect the fact that she is an athlete and she takes what she does seriously and shows up at the events to perform. All the girls on tour rip and they’re beautiful, we focus on that but we should focus on how great athletes they are too.
