Laura Enever has just dropped the last episode of her I’m Laura series. You can watch the earlier I’m Laura episodes here.
In it she’s her usual bubbly and wholly honest self. Chatting about where the name for the series came from she said:
I named the series I’m Laura at the start of the year… because honestly I didn’t really know who that was… and at the end of the series I wanted to know exactly who that was. I feel like everybody goes through those moments at some point in their lives, they’re trials and when you come out of them they’re triumphs.
Ahead of the crucial last event at the EDP Cascais she talks about her fear of not requalifying for the 2014 ASP Women’s World Tour, and then when her heat doesn’t go too awesomely she’s holding back the tears as she says: “The thought of not qualifying gives me a stomach ache”.
Fortunately other results go her way and there’s palpable relief when she finds out she’s qualified for next year. She also had this to say about the new World Champ Carissa Moore and other pro girls on tour:
Watching Carissa [Moore] battle for that World Title was so inspiring, Carissa is an amazing woman. I never really get a chance to tell the girls who I compete against how inspiring they are. I’ve grown up surfing against all those girls and it just makes me want to push myself harder. I want to be there in that top five with those girls, watching them and their hard work totally inspires me. I feel like I’m back and back on track.
After a crazy rollercoaster year her final words are pretty inspiring and reassuring too:
I’m absolutely in love with the ocean again. I surf now and it’s for the love of it again. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance
