Yesterday’s big story was Maya Gabeira surfing a monster wave in Nazare, Portugal, wiping out and being pulled from the water unconscious, though thankfully as the pic above shows she was smiling in hospital later in the day, escaping with just a broken ankle for her troubles.

Now Billabong have released footage of the wipeout and it is seriously heavy in all senses of the word, though not remotely squeamish, just gnarly. So much respect for her surfing those kind of giants.
