While other pensioners are busying playing bridge and watching TV, Dilys Price is doing something all together more radical.
This Woman Became The Oldest Female To Run A Marathon – Aged 92
Aged 82, she spends her spare time skydiving, making her the oldest female skydiver in the world. The grandmother from Cardiff started skydiving when she was 52 years old – and doesn’t want to stop any time soon.
Her friends and family do worry about her safety. What does she say to this? “I think it’s ridiculous. What a better way to die – having fun!”
“The first time I jumped out of an aeroplane I thought, ‘What a mistake, this is death'” she says in the video. “Then in the next second I thought, ‘I’m flying!'”
I learnt courage, I learnt to go – and that has been the biggest turning point in my life
When she’s not jumping out of planes, Dilys runs a charity called the Touch Trust, offering touch therapy for people with learning difficulties.
“I learnt courage, I learnt to go – and that has been the biggest turning point in my life.”
Why does she love skydiving so much? “It thrills me,” she says. “I believe we all have a purpose in life.” Clearly Dilys has found hers – what an inspirational woman!
