Benefits Of Being Vegan
Becoming a vegan definitely has its benefits, including; lowering the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, strokes, and even Alzheimer’s.
Vegans say that they feel lighter and stay slim more easily, this is probably due to consuming fewer calories by cutting out meat- meat is very high in fats and therefore, eating meat leads to a high BMI. Vegans fill their plates with plant based foods like; lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, potatoes and green veggies instead, so they stay lean and generally have a lower BMI.
While some vegans follow this trend for health reasons, a high number of vegans do it primarily for their love of animals and the planet. Well-known documentaries such as called Earthlings, Forks Over Knives And Conspiracy, have convinced thousands of people turn to a vegan lifestyle over the last few years.
“Each day, a person who eats a vegan diet saves 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 30 sq ft of forested land, 20lbs CO2 equivalent, and one animal’s life.”
The dairy and egg industry is just as bad as its meat counterpart, they work in the same animal agriculture and dairy cows are hurt every day, Erin Janus talks about how dairy is scary for 5 minutes on her Youtube video, changing lives all over the world.
Dairy cows are routinely impregnated against their own will by farmers and have their calves taken away from them to be killed not long after for veal if they are male, or turned themselves into dairy cows if they are female. Once their calf is taken from them, they have their milk taken for human consumption and after a few years, they are killed too, or die prematurely from disease or exhaustion.
It’s no wonder over half a million people in Britain are vegan…
