Hi everyone! I am Molly, from Colorado, USA. That’s right, the same Colorado with some of the best skiing and riding in the world! I have been a competitive freestyle skier since I was 5 years old, and have only recently decided to quit all that and just have some fun in the mountains! Now I can just sit back and report on all the new sweet spots to hit up this year and where to find the big events.
So, for my first report, I would like to say that the ski areas are now open!! We had a lot of pre-season snow, so everyone showed up for a big first day in Keystone and A-Basin. A-Basin is always open the earliest in the year, and brags huge dumps and record temperatures. Maybe that has to do with the fact that it sits at 12,000 feet above sea level! Other than the hour long lines, it was an amazing way to start off the year.
The pro-boarders also started the year off right with the Joneserfest at the Coors Amphitheater. With a live band, sponsor tents and some of the sickest riders around, the event was an all-in-all success. Denver had amazing weather that day, with people in shorts and t-shirts hanging out, drinking beer and watching the riders grind the rail.
That is all for now, but I will keep updating everyone on the happenings out here! Thanks for reading!
Molly
