Snaking is when you paddle around another surfer to get to the position to catch the wave first.

Snaking isn’t overly dangerous from a hazard point of view, but it is mightily annoying for the person you just passed and won’t make you very popular.

Everyone has to take turns even when they’re green with envy at the surfer in front of them catching the best waves.
