Pro Chat: Lacey Baker: ‘When I was 8 I became obsessed with how to kickflip’

Catching with the X Games winner in sunny California...

What have you got coming up? Any new video parts?

In April I released my pro part for Meow skateboards, it came out to promote my pro model board so that was earlier this year. I am going to keep filming and probably release a video part next year. So I am going to release something every year., to keep the cycle going. It wasn’t totally planned out for the Thrasher part, and then my newest one a year later, but I want to keep that going. There’s not that much happening for me at this point, besides just work and skating. There is only one contest right now!

Shame there’s not more contests right?

Well, we got some stuff cooking with Mimi, Lisa and Kim. Instead of trying to get people like Street League or World Cup to give us a contest, we are going to make our own contest. We are going to make a platform and community for girls to see skating and be all together, just having a good time! Hopefully this is something coming out over the next year…

Did you design your own pro model deck?

Yes I did. I designed it based on the Smarties logo, because Smarties has always been my favourite candy forever. So I was in the candy shop one day and it clicked. I should do that for my pro model board. I was stoked on it!

What’s next?

In and Out! In and Out!

Time for a burger, Cali style…
