What is it about that season that gets people so excited?

For me, part of the opportunity of the summer is about water. Every image in “Summertime” was taken on or near the water and I believe that water is the thread that ties our summertime experiences together. As I wrote in the introduction, “We define our summers by the water we sit by. We smell it, taste it, love near it, write about it, and cast our gaze out past it. We make important decisions near it and also use it to forget, just for a time, those things we don’t want to think about anymore.” This process of taking a break, of looking out past whatever horizon is right in front of us, is what summertime is about for me.
