Name: Anniken Binz
Briefly describe yourself… My biggest passion in life is basejumping and skydiving. I get extremely restless if I don’t get airtime at a regular basis;-) To balance the playing part of my life, I’ve done a masters degree in Human Geography and am doing humanitarian and development work in between my jumping. I previously worked as a model, but needed to do something a bit more meaningful with my life. Also the studies and work I do go hand in hand with my need for adventure, because I get to travel to exciting and faraway places. In general I look for challenges wherever I can, and that’s what keeps me going.
Describe your biggest adrenaline rush: My biggest adrenaline rush comes from basejumping, and trying out new kinds of jumps. But things like longboarding down the street or jumping off cliffs into the water can also give me a great adrenaline rush! It’s all about being in the comfort zone or not.
What, or who, is your greatest inspiration and why? Kofi Annan, he stands for good values, means what he says, and dares say it out loud. In short a man of great integrity.
When are you happiest? When I’m out flying somewhere…
What’s your philosophy on life? Live today as if you would die tomorrow, but plan as if you would live forever…
What’s your greatest dream or hope? That I stay both physically and mentally healthy for as long as I live so that I can make other people happy as well.
How do you stay fit and healthy? I practice ashtanga yoga, climb, run and go trekking a lot in the mountains (have to reach the top of the cliffs before I can jump off!)
Favourite quote for the Cooler reader… The foolish seek happiness in the distance; the wise grow it under their feet…
