Despite the space shuttle sci-fi theme, the Burton European Open were dominated by veterans of the sports, with pipe legend Kelly Clark (USA) winning the half pipe finals on Saturday followed, after double TTR tour winner Jamie Anderson had already bagged slopestyle two days before. But with a Frontside 9 followed by a Frontside 1080 and Cab 720 Mute, who can beat her anyways? Gretchen Bleiler tried, who isn’t exactly new to the pipe herself, but didn’t come very far either, and had to settle for second. With Yuki Furihata and Cilka Sadar in 3rd and 4th spot, there was at least some future talent riding to the space-theme and Kelly was super stoked anyway: “It was great riding in sunny weather, it lifts the spirits, and the level of riding. All the girls were pushing it and it still remains a challenge even after so many consecutive wins!”
