This year’s New York Surf Film Festival will be taking place from 26-28th September 2008. The weekend will showcase the best in international independent surf film and is a great opportunity for filmmakers who are exploring the diversity of surfing to present their work to a larger audience.
Over three days, the New York Surf Film Festival will host a series of screenings of independent short and feature films, cult classics, and world premieres from established surf filmmakers. Film screenings will cover all categories, from documentaries and travel logs, to animation, biographies and comedies.
In between screenings, there will be a surf history lecture series, Q&A sessions to quiz filmmakers and notable surfers, panel discussions, and meet & greets. There will also be a Surf Art Gallery where budding artists can showcase their work for the duration of the weekend.
Submissions are open until 25th June, so get your entry in quick! The sqaure-eyed judging panel will be working their way through the entries with a view to announcing the official 2008 New York Surf Film Festival selections by mid-August.
