The 4th Annual Roxy Chicken Jam was hit by unexpected blizzard and white-out conditions on Mammoth Mountain yesterday. Organisers were forced to place competitors on stand-by with a view to completing the nail-biting contest today.
Nerves were mounting as the three-day event will determine the 2008 Swatch Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour Champion.
Bringing together the biggest names in women’s professional snowboarding, the event will reconvene for the Slopestyle Finals and the crowning of the 2008 Women’s World Champion. Torah Bright will be keen to hold on to her crown after Kelly Clark took the Roxy Chicken Jam Superpipe Crown on Saturday, moving her into TTR World No. 2. Torah Bright (AUS) took second place, maintaining her lead at TTR World No. 1 as Kjersti Oestgaard Buaas (NOR) took third to take over TTR World No. 4.
It’s going to be a close and exciting showdown in the Slopestyle competition with Jamie Anderson (USA) moving into TTR World No. 3 after her 9th place in the Halfpipe competition and Jenny Jones (GBR) getting pushed down to TTR World No. 5 by not competing in the Halfpipe.
The event prize purse is a whopping $150,000 which includes the $110,000 Swatch TTR World Tour prize purse…
