While you’re hopefully all busy filming your masterpiece for The Shorties contest at the London Surf / Film Festival in October, we’re happy to announce that with National Trust they now found a environmentalist presenting partner for their event. “As surfers, the environment and coastline are integral to our story. The National Trust works hard on our behalf to conserve and protect nearly 10 per cent of our coastline across England, Wales and Northern Ireland which is why we are thrilled to be working with the charity to present The Shorties short film contest,” stated a stoked Demi Taylor, founding member of the London Surf / Film Festival.

In case you’re not sure what The Shorties is all about, let us enlighten you: a short film contest open exclusively to surf filmmakers from or based in Britain and Ireland, who are invited to send in 5 min shorts exploring all aspects and angles of surfing and surf culture until August 26th. The best submissions will be selected for screening as part of the 2011 London Surf / Film Festival programme and judged in the category of Shortie of the Year.
