Season’s Over – Finished 14th in the World!

Well another season’s over, and apart from the lack of snow in Europe, for me this one went better than the last as I went from 32nd to 14th in the world cup rankings.

Just at the end I had a whole bunch of World Cup comps. There were two in Lake Placid, USA. The first one went pretty well where I qualified 8th and finished 11th. I got food poisoning shortly before the second competition, so that one didn’t go too well.

After that there were the World Cup finals in Quebec, Canada. This was another good comp, where I qualified in 7th place with my second run. In my heat I was on the far right gate however the four of us pulled out about equally, and we all went over the fist few jumps together. Then I was fighting to get around the first bend before the girl next to me. I was on the inside between her and the gate, so I had the shortest line around the corner. The problem was that the gap I had to ride through got smaller and smaller, until finally, with insufficient space left, I hit the gate, careered into the other girl and ended up on the ground. She didn’t last much longer than I did, as shortly after picking myself up and getting going again (to the cheers of the watching crowd) I overtook her on the landing of the next jump where she was lying on the snow evidently she had fallen as well.
