Reasons to love Torah Bright # 7,658: Ahead of next year’s Winter Olympics in Sochi, the defending halfpipe gold medallist is getting some training down in New Zealand. Did she have her own halfpipe built for her like a certain Shaun White was rumoured to have done in Perisher, Australia? Nope of course not, she’s riding a halfpipe that was built “for everyone” in Mt.Hutt, New Zealand which was co-designed by her brother and coach Ben Bright. We’ll leave quite what Shaun White needs such a “private” halfpipe for to the sniggering schoolgirl side to our personality.

We interviewed Torah Bright for the current issue and she mentioned Perisher would be building some jumps (she didn’t mention Mt Hutt at this stage) for her saying:

For slopestyle, my home resort of Perisher, Australia they’re just willing to do whatever they can to help me out. They’re going to have some jumps built and I’m going to invite some girls and guys to have a fun riding crew there.

I said:

Not like Shaun White and his private half pipe? [built by Red Bull before the last Olympics]

To which she replied:

Haha yeah though it won’t be private, I like having people to ride with.

She quite simply rules and it seems way more in keeping with the spirit of snowboarding than Mr.White’s approach to us, but what do you think? Tell us below or on our facebook or twitter
