Released on 20 August with exclusive live bonus tracks
The 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize compilation CD, released on Monday 20th August, features a track from each of the 12 albums of the year shortlisted for this year’s prize: Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Basquiat Strings, Bat for Lashes, Fionn Regan, Dizzee Rascal, Jamie T, Klaxons, Maps, New Young Pony Club, The View and The Young Knives. And we have five copies to give away to you lucky lot.
The album includes eight singles and for the first time features two exclusive live tracks, ‘Be Good or Be Gone’ by Fionn Regan and ‘Superstar Tradesman’ performed by The View’s Kyle Falconer and Pete Reilly.
The overall winner of the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize for Album of the Year will be announced on Tuesday 4th September at the Awards Show, where there will be live performances from many of the shortlisted artists. Programmes will be broadcast on BBC Four, BBC Two, Radio 1 and Radio 2.
This year’s CD cover features the winning work from the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize Art Competition. ‘Applause’ is a sculpture by Mark Melvin, a 27-year-old from Bolton, studying at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. The Art Competition attracted over 2000 entries from more than 130 UK art colleges and universities, and the judges include the acclaimed artist Sir Peter Blake.
