Here in the UK, it’s not often you see a surfing event dedicated just to women. However this weekend, we’re in luck!
Surf Bettys Festival is taking place this Saturday 22 August in Newquay, Cornwall to celebrate all things related to women and surfing in the UK.
I’d always wanted to go to a really fun day focused entirely around women’s surfing
British pro surfer Corinne Evans – who we spoke to a few months ago – is the brains behind the whole project.
“I’d always wanted to go to a really fun day focused entirely around women’s surfing – from fashion to crafts to yoga. So I decided to set it up myself,” Corinne told us back in June.
She started the Surf Bettys Festival last year as a way of raising the profile of women’s surfing in the UK.
Sponsored by Animal and Powerful Water, the girls-only festival is now in its second year – and is set to be bigger and better than ever.
There will be surf lessons, beach yoga classes with YogaFit, tie-dye workshops, nail painting bars and live music – plus plenty of awesome like-minded women to hang with.
And the best part? It’s totally free to come along.
Make sure you get down to Fistral Beach in Newquay this Saturday 22 August 2015 from 11am to 6pm – and join in!
