Retro Icon: Angelina Jolie

Text & collage by Mia Kingsley

She’s known all over the world for her work, her beauty and those lips! Angelina Jolie is one hell of a woman, her acting career started out in the 90s and she has played every character from a cyber hottie in ‘Hackers’ to mental patient Lisa in ‘Girl Interrupted’, making boys dreams of Playstation character Lara Croft a reality and most recently taking on the role as dark and mysterious witch Maleficent in Disney’s latest big movie.  She’s a real superstar of Hollywood, and how could she not be? Apart from being an international icon, Angelina has dedicated a lot of work into humanitarian causes. Using her global status to promote and address crisis throughout the world, she has in the past years decided to focus more on these issues rather than continue with her acting career.

But she hasn’t always been a good girl you know, in the 90s Jolie attracted a lot of publicity for her romances and way of life. At her first wedding she attended the ceremony wearing rubber black pants and a white t-shirt on which she had written the grooms name in her own blood! She also married Billy Bon Thornton, which involved wearing vials of each others blood… Bit of a wild child ey? Now married to Brad Pitt with 6 children I think its safe to say we won’t be seeing black rubber or blood for a while…

As for rubber and her style, she has been hailed from her youth as the most beautiful woman in the world, with lips that are probably the most spoken of in all time and the beauty of a goddess. Check out her look below, I personally love her 90s style and of course that stunning smile 🙂
