And it was a true highlight. Over 12.ooo people came to the Jugendpark in Cologne to watch 400 riders from 30 countries throw down their finest under perfect weather. Next to Dirt, Park, Flat and the newly introduced Super Ramp contests, there were also a Girls comp and an Oldschool zone, where Bob Haro himself, the founder of BMX Freestyle, presented never-seen-before photos and illustrations.

Things started off with Girls Park. When Camila Harambourn (ARG) pulled a No Handed Backflip, everyone realized that girls can ride just as impressive as guys.

But the guys were up for some surprises as well and so Adam Kun (HUN) took the win in Flat over Matthias Dandois (FRA), who then won Suzuki’s Best Combo Contest, while 15-year old Brett “Mad Dog” Banasiewicz (USA) won Park with a perfect Cashroll, a trick that had never been pulled in a BMX competition before. Fellow American TJ Ellis took the Dirt category and newcomer Alex Coleborn (ENG) the Super Ramp and Ondra Selz (CZE) added another first to the event by busting out the first Frontflip Flair ever pulled on a miniramp.
