9. The dude who took the Kassia Meador surfing shot, which swoops through the centre of the cover, didn’t even know it was her when he took it. Adam Reynolds said:

Driving cutback after cutback in a colourful and spirited wetsuit, I knew this surfer was more than the average chick in the lineup. She was precise and distinctly comfortable in the water. As she neared, I drew my camera from the water, aimed, focused and pulled the trigger. She zipped past me without blinking an eye — I could tell this wasn’t her first time being photographed in the water. I had a sneaking suspicion who it was, but her long hair was throwing me for a loop. I thought, perhaps this was just another wanna be stealing her style. As she paddled back into the lineup I smiled at her and asked, “Are you Kassia?” I am, she replied. I extended my hand and said, “My name is Adam.  It’s a honour to meet you. Your surfing is beautiful.” Somewhat blushing, she said thank you and went on her way.
