My Hero, the regular that’s best read with Dave Grohl playing softly in your head, throws up a good array of idols with many folk choosing heroes from within their sport including this week’s shred queen Sabrina Kusar who’s picked Tonton Holland as her inspiration. Here’s why

My hero is Tonton Holland. He is an impressive and powerful rider. I always looked at him as a mentor.

At that time he was a shaper at the Avoriaz snowpark and was destroying the rails like no-one else, and with such a great style.

It was when I was looking at him that I felt my passion for snowboarding arrive. To tell you the truth, I was just an adolescent girl in love. Even though it’s a long time ago, I’m still a bit ashamed to admit it.

Today, I’m not in love with him anymore, but he remains my hero for many reasons:  he’s humble and discreet with pure and honest values. He has never changed and you can feel that he’s one of the most passionate riders around. He’s not riding for money or for glory. He rides with his heart, just for the love of it, and because he must.

I’ve met him many times because we have common friends, but everytime is the same. I’m lost for words, star-struck. Luckily, through Facebook, I had the opportunity to thank him for the influence he had on me, without losing my words! He’s my hero, definitely.
