For every pound of household spending, 49p is spent in supermarkets. So it’s pretty important to think about where you spend your money.
These rankings take into account everything from how much organic produce there is on offer to whether they source locally or not.
Interestingly, Co-op is the firm winner here with Marks & Spencer coming close second place and Waitrose a little further down.
But it’s not just the fancy expensive supermarkets that are ethical stars. Budgens and Morrison’s all come out very highly on the ethical rankings.
Meanwhile, Lidl, Tesco and Asda all fall below par when it comes to animal welfare and workers’ rights.
