Burton European Open Women’s Halfpipe Qualifications

Linn Haug (NOR) placed first in yesterday’s women’s halfpipe qualifiers and Nick Larson (USA) took the top spot in the men’s halfpipe pre-qualifiers.

43 women competed in the Burton European Open Halfpipe qualifiers for only four spots in the halfpipe semifinals, where they will be competing against top champions like Torah Bright (AUS), Kelly Clark (USA) and Hannah Teter (USA).

Linn Haug took the lead with a solid run that included a frontside nose grab, method air, frontside 720, Japan air, frontside stalefish, McTwist finishing with an air-to-fakie nose grab.

In the men’s halfpipe pre-qualifiers, 90 men competed for 40 spots in the halfpipe qualifiers, which take place on Wednesday along with the men’s semifinals. Top pre-qualifier Nick Larson (USA) earned an impressive 82 points with a run that started with a huge backside air to a frontside 900 to a McTwist and finishing with a frontside 720 tail grab.

Tomorrow at the BEO, the competition heats up as all eyes will be on the world’s top riders including 2007 Burton Global Open Series Champion and TTR Champions Shaun White (USA) and Torah Bright (AUS) as they compete in the slopestyle semifinals.
