The action sports community, pro-athletes and celebrities came together on Thursday, July 19 to celebrate the launch of the Supergirl actionista capsule collection at Los Angeles-based Nine Star and to show support for Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC).
The evening’s festivities kicked off with pink carpet arrivals and professional surfer and event MC, Holly Beck introducing the extraordinary group of action sports athletes on the host committee which included: pro surfers Serena Brooke, Leilani Gryde, Mary Osborne and Courtney Conlogue; snowboarder Roberta Rodger; and pro skaters Holly Lyons, Lauren Perkins and seven-year-old skateboarding prodigy Alize Montes.
“It was fantastic to acknowledge the female action sports athletes as roll models and figureheads of empowerment for young girls,” said Justine Chiara, Executive Director of B4BC. “The event was an awesome opportunity for our organization to reach out to young women about how important an active lifestyle and early detection are in the fight against breast cancer.”
Throughout the evening, guests got an exclusive opportunity to purchase products from the limited-edition Supergirl collection with partial proceeds benefiting B4BC. The collection includes: shoes by etnies Girl; halter sundresses by FEW; flip-flops by Havaianas; t-shirts and a bikini by Rip Curl; a tank top and t-shirt by Sk8grl; a t-shirt by Surf Diva, custom surfboards by Guy Okazaki and one-of-a-kind Supergirl artwork by Colleen Hanley.
A highlight of the evening was the Supergirl fashion show where models showcased the complete collection for the cheering crowd. A raffle was also a high point benefiting B4BC.
