Steal This Look | Nina Buitrago, Pro BMX Rider

We caught up with the badass Nina Burrito, to ask what threads she's rocking when she rides...

We caught up with veteran freestyle BMX rider, Nina Buitrago the other week at The Source Park in Hastings, to talk riding, contests and style.

Nina has been traveling and riding around  the world for the last eighteen years and is the main inspiration for many new female riders, heading up the women’s scene over the last decade.

“Riding BMX Made Me More Confident” | Meet The Teenage Girls Who Are Smashing It In The World Of BMX Racing

As well as riding at the X Games and many other comps each and every year, she also set up her own girls jam back in the US and created a zine, which she distributes at events and contests all over the world.

We hung out with Nina for a day recently, as she came to the UK to compete in The Source’s first ever girls jam, alongside other legends such as Angie Marino, Charlotte Worthington and Perris Benegas. As well as talking BMX, we also took the chance to ask her about her favourite looks to rock and which brands she always likes to ride in. Here are Nina’s favourite pieces, and where to find them for yourself…

Stance Socks

Stance socks are all over the action sports industry at the moment. It doesn’t matter if you BMX, skate, surf or snowboard, chances are that you’ll see a lot of Stance on the feet and legs of those around you.

This brand says that it noticed socks to be the  only piece of clothing that no one had thought to male radical. Through recruiting their line of ‘punk and poet’ ambassadors, such as surfer John John Florence, skater Ishod Wair and pop empress Rihanna, they’ve taken this forgotten item and designed a style for every person.

We love Nina’s botanical printed socks, bright enough to get you noticed, with all the performance technology you need to wear all day at the park.

Brixton Baker Boy Hat

Baker boy hates are having a big fashion moment right now and there’s no better brand for them than Brixton.

There’s nothing quite like a good statement hat to finish off an outfit and we love Nina’s turn of the century style look, to clash against her casual BMX clothes.

Founded in 2004, Brixton is the collaboration of three friends who wanted to convey their lifestyle through unique products. The classic design of Brixton’s collections has a modern yet timeless feel, with each piece constructed with the commitment to make quality products that last the test of time.

Moto Fox Top

As one of Fox’s riders, we weren’t shocked at all to see Nina rocking this great Maniac Tee.

Fox built its business by developing clothing for high intensity, physically demanding motorsport of motocross. Through sponsoring and working closely with the best riders in the history of the sport, the company has researched and developed race clothing that provides riders with maximum protection and performance and freedom of movement.

We love the mx-inspired style of this relaxed fit tee. With its short sleeves, crew neck, Fox Screen Print on front and contrast striping on sleeves, it’s the perfect chilled t-shirt for a day of riding.
