I grew up in a cottage on the coast of North Devon. With memories of long sunny days at the beach, bodyboarding and making tyre swings, catapults and hay dens at my Gramps’ farm. Having young parents we didn’t have a lot of money and the cottage was often missing a wall or window, while being fixed-up, yet we had a great childhood, with freedom, nature and plenty of laughter.
I left Devon for university to see what was beyond the West Country, not to follow a career. I had no idea. All I knew was that I loved the creative process. It was never a task, unlike other lessons in school. I am thankful for my art teacher who believed in my ability and gently pushed me in the right direction. I love to experiment in various creative fields and learning something new every day. Yet I feel I have so much more to learn.
